Jakub Říha is involved in the research of the history of verse, rhyme and strophics, in particular. He focuses on the poetry of the second half of the 19th century (Hálek, Neruda, Vrchlický). Methodologically, he draws upon the works of Czech structuralism; in addition, he draws inspiration from French metrics (B. de Cornulier).
